Water activities - Rafting
Whitewater rafting on the gushing rivers, navigating through stunning scenery and challenging rapids.
Rafting in Latvia and Estonia offers a way to experience rivers during changing water conditions. In early spring, when snowmelt raises water levels, rafting becomes possible even in Estonia’s relatively flat landscape. This high-water season is short, often lasting only a few weeks, and requires quick timing to catch the strongest flows. The rafts used are durable, inflatable boats designed to handle varying river conditions. Many are models originally developed for Scandinavian rivers and are also commonly used by operators in Alpine regions. These rafts have a sturdy construction that provides stability and buoyancy, making them suitable for group trips on faster currents. The Jägala River is one of Estonia’s most popular rafting locations, known for its accessible rapids during this period. Packrafts, which are smaller, lightweight, and easy to carry, are used throughout the year for exploring quieter waters and more remote streams.
