Multiple day bird watching in Matsalu National Park

Welcome to Altmõisa Guesthouse, a warm and tranquil hideaway on the edge of Matsalu National Park – one of Europe’s top birdwatching destinations. During the migration season, tens of thousands of birds pass over our house, forage in the fields, and settle into Matsalu Bay each evening. Our season begins in April with the arrival of migratory birds and lasts until October, when the flocks move on. In the summer months, nature enthusiasts can marvel at wild orchids in bloom. Beyond birds, Matsalu is also home to many fascinating mammals, including lynx and elk. Wake to the sound of warblers in the reeds, spot sea eagles from our garden, and rest in individually designed rooms filled with local character.
