Magical Sounds of the Kokle - Learn How to Play It

About

This musical workshop introduces you to the kokle, a Latvian traditional string instrument known for its pure and calming sound. The session begins at the Ethnographic Open-Air Museum of Latvia, where a folk musician will provide a brief history of the kokle and demonstrate its magical melodies. You'll then have the chance to learn and play up to three simple Latvian folk songs. No prior musical experience is needed, though reading sheet music is helpful. After the workshop, you can explore the museum, picnic by the lake, or enjoy the surrounding pine forest.
